About Me!
Dr. YooBin Lee is a captivating violist whose artistry shines brightly in both performance and education.
Dr. Lee's virtuosity, cultivated through years of dedicated practice and nurtured by esteemed mentors such as Yizhak Schotten and the Jupiter String Quartet, has graced illustrious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Currently, she holds a core viola position with the Sarasota Orchestra, while also occasionally performs with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Her talent has been recognized through top honors in competitions such as the New York Artists International Competition and The Korea Art Music Competition, alongside numerous accolades from other competitions. Dr. Lee possesses a profound affinity for contemporary music, serving as the principal violist for the Illinois Modern Ensemble. She has had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed composers such as Tania Leon and Samuel Adler, including premiering the award-winning composition "Underwater Comet (2014-2015)" by Dongryul Lee.Dr. Lee's passion for music extends to nurturing the next generation of musicians. She currently serves as a viola instructor at State College of Florida, and has previously served in esteemed positions such as viola instructor and String Ensemble Co-director at Knox College, visiting faculty at Bowling Green State University, and violin/viola instructor at Millikin University. Her dedication to her students' development is evident in her fostering a love of music and technical excellence, empowering them to reach their full potential.Dr. Lee holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Viola Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Music in Chamber Music from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Music in Viola Performance from Bowling Green State University.Dr. Lee's exceptional musicianship, combined with her commitment to music education, makes her an invaluable asset to the classical music community.
